I am a Master Level Reiki Practitioner, incorporating years of study related to the “energy body” and offering techniques one can use at home in between treatments. I began receiving reiki treatments in 2004 to help ease my life-long struggle with anxiety. To this day reiki is an on-going part of my self care.
Reiki (pronounced Ray Key) is a Japanese supplemental healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation promoting physical, emotional, and mental healing. At Urban Vybe, our practitioners use the original Usui Reiki system discovered by Mikao Usui. Reiki is based on an Eastern belief in a life force energy that supports the body’s innate or natural healing abilities. Reiki has been studied for a variety of conditions, including pain, anxiety, fatigue, and depression. Reiki is administered with the hands placed just off the body or lightly touching the body and is based on the idea that a “life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to live. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.
The intention is to:
Reduce blocked energy to cultivate deep relaxation
Cleanse the mind and body of impurities
Enhance the speed of healing
Reduce physical, mental, & emotional pain
Enhance Creativity & Vitality
Balance the energy of the body, promoting inner harmony
Reiki should not be used to replace conventional care, but rather as a complementary tool/method.
Reiki Attunement I, II, III
There are three levels of Reiki that can be attained, and each have an attunement process, as well as education and practice. The Reiki attunement consists of a ceremony, called Reiju (Ray-joo) in Japanese, and is performed by the Reiki Master, opening and expanding the main energy channels of the student’s body, allowing universal energy, also known as Qi/Chi/Ki (Chee) to flow. Through the process, the student’s body them becomes a vehicle for administering Reiki energy to others. Because the attunement clears blockages in the Physical, Mental, and Emotional body, it becomes a source of growth and well-being for the individual.
Here is a breakdown of the three levels of Reiki and each of the attunements:
1. Reiki Level 1: (Group & Individual Classes)
The First Degree or Level 1 is a practitioner’s initiation into Reiki. It is available to anyone and opens the energy body, as well as the physical body. It allows for the flow of Reiki energy through the crown of the head, from the palms of the hands. In this class you will learn:
The History of Reiki
The importance of the 5 Precepts of Reiki
An overview of the Energy Body & the emotions associated with the Chakras
How to administer Reiki on yourself
How to administer Reiki on animals

2. Reiki Level 2: (Group & Individual Classes)
The Second Degree or Level 2 emphasizes focus on practicing Reiki on others. We recommend at least 3 months between level 1 and 2, allowing the practitioner to process the changes in the physical and energetic body. In this class
you will learn:
Sacred Keys of Reiki (3 Symbols unlocking the power of healing, removing blockages)
How to offer Distant Healing.
3. Reiki Level 3: Reiki Master (Only Offered Individually)
Third Degree/Reiki Master Level teaches the student to attune others. We recommend at least 3 months between level 2 and 3. In this class
